The Mundhwa police arrested an Afghan student yesterday night on charges of rash driving, leading to the death of a 23-year old girl on BT Kawade Road.

According to the police, the victim Vinita Thapa, a call centre employee was returning home from work late night on Tuesday with her friend on a motorbike, when her vehicle collided head-on with another bike.

The collision, which happened near PT Kawade petrol pump, was so severe that she fell down and was dragged for about 20 feet and died on the spot.

The accused, Nisar Mohammad Haidar (22) of Afghanistan, is a student of second year BBA at MIT College. He too has suffered injuries and is recuperating at a private hospital.
