'Can you suggest some contraceptive pills that I can have'

Q. We have been married for past 8 years and have a 6-year-old kid. Post delivery I opted for family planning using Copper-T. I got it removed recently. Can you suggest some contraceptive pills that I can have?
— Family planning
A. There are low dose hormone contraceptive pills available. There are some do’s and don’t s which one needs to follow before taking the medicine. For example, if you have a problem with liver or blood, then you cannot take these pills. There are several contraindications which one needs to rule out before taking the pills. It would be ideal to contact your family doctor who is aware about your past and family history and who can also perform a quick physical examination.
Note: Whenever you start the pill, please note that you use additional protection like condom for the first 10 days in the first cycle. Subsequent cycles, additional protection is not required.

Q. I m 40 and getting married in May. My problem is when I get excited my penis is erect but once I remove my clothes and undergarments, it goes back to being flaccid. Also, water like sticky fluid comes out and I don’t know what to do.
— Erection issues
A. If you get erection in one set of circumstances and not in the other, the problem is situational and not constitutional. If I have a hand and I chop it off from elbow; even if I raise my arm 10 times my forearm will not be raised even once. If it is raised once, will you believe that my hand was cut? The answer is no. Similarly, in your case, the problem is psychological and not physical. The water like sticky fluid which you are worried about is called Cowper’s gland fluid. This is akin to salivation you experience in the mouth after seeing a sweet. This is not ejaculate or semen which is white. Sometimes when you mistakenly think that this Cowper’s gland fluid which oozes out is semen, then some people believe that after this, the erection should subside and that is why it does subside! This is all in the mind and there is nothing physically wrong with you.
