Cancellara earns yellow jersey in Tour de France
Olympic champion Fabian Cancellara of Switzerland won the race-opening prologue of the Tour de France here on Saturday to claim the first race leader's yellow jersey of the 99th edition.
RadioShack rider Cancellara, who clocked a winning time of 7 mins, 13.46secs for the 6.4 km course, thus repeated his feat of 2004 on an almost identical course in the centre of Liege.
Britain’s Bradley Wiggins (Sky), the favourite for overall victory, was second.
USADA file formal charges
The US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) announced on Friday it has filed formal doping charges against Lance Armstrong that, if proven, would strip him of his seven Tour de France titles. A three-member review panel evaluated evidence gathered by USADA and a reply from Armstrong before unanimously voting to turn the allegations revealed on June 13 into formal charges.
