Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted countrywide raids on Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy's offices and residences on Thursday. The agency has started the process of evaluating wealth of Jagan Mohan, son of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, in the alleged disproportionate assets case against him.

The CBI sleuths are searching senior IAS officer BP Acharya's residence too. Emaar properties' offices in major metros were also raided on Thursday. CBI seized several computers, hard disks, files and other documents from Bharati Cements Limited, a company founded by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. His other companies, including Pulivendula Polymers, Janani Infra, Classic realty, Jagati Publications, Indira television, Mantri Developers in Bangalore, Dalmia Cements in New Delhi and India Cements in Chennai were also searched.

CBI had registered a case against Jagan on the instructions of Andhra Pradesh High Court under relevant Sections of Indian Penal Code, pertaining to cheating, criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust and under provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act.

Acting on separate petitions filed by Textile Minister P Shankar Rao and TDP leader Yerran Naidu, the Andhra Pradesh High Court had recently ordered CBI to probe the alleged illegal assets that the Kadapa MP had amassed during his father's reign as Chief Minister.
