Lucknow: A centralised software application would soon be created to link Uttar Pradesh's 25 universities and a data bank of all varsities will be maintained for records and other purposes, an official said on Tuesday.

This initiative comes following a high-level meeting of vice chancellors of these varsities with UP Governor Ram Naik in Jaunpur.

These universities have been asked to take the services of the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and to also ensure that all websites of various universities are updated and the dead links weeded out, the official added.

The website would also have a certified bio-data and picture of the vice chancellor and that any and all legal cases will be put up on the website.

Governor Naik has also asked officials to begin process of student union elections in their respective universities. This, he added, should be done in a manner that the studies of the students are not disturbed.
