“Former prime minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi meet PM. Top ministers are present at the meet,” the Prime Minister’s Office tweeted. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu were present during the meeting.

Earlier in the day, Naidu told reporters that the prime minister has invited the two Congress leaders for tea to discuss issues related to important bills and working together for the smooth functioning of parliament.

Modi praises Nehru
Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday lavished praise on Jawaharlal Nehru while speaking in parliament. The BJP leader praised Nehru, India’s first prime minister, for his ability to concede other points of view.

He cited an incident when socialist leader Ram Manohar Lohia quoted statistics to tell Nehru that his government’s policy was wrong. “Nehru said I cannot refute your statistics,” Modi went on. “He (Nehru) showed greatness.”
