Once known as a pensioner's paradise, Bangalore was a city with canopies of trees, lakes, wide roads and pleasant weather. Ten years later, the garden city barely resembles what it used to be


It's coming: Namma Metro which is coming up as a panacea to the
chronic illness called traffic, is already showing the
changes it would
bring in once it starts commercially operating in 2011. While taking its
toll on many landmarks, it is giving rise to new landmarks such as Metro

All the world's a stage: Opened in 2004, Ranga Shankara stages both
Indian and international productions. With a cozy caf ufffd in it, Ranga Shankara
is the only space in the city that ensures an intimate theatre experience.


We still rock: With no deadlines, the city had an active nightlife a decade
ago. But with the ban on live bands playing in pubs, drink driving checks
and an 11 pm deadline, things have changed quite a bit. However, Namma
Oru Bengaluru continues to have the best live music scene in the country


Really nice:u00a0 At 111 km, the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor
built by the Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises was aimed to connect
Bangalore to Mysore. It is considered to be the landmark in terms of road
developments in the city


God's work: Vikas Soudha, the seat of state legislature was inaugurated
in 2004 by the then Chief Minister SM Krishna. This edifice made of granite
is built on the lines of the South Block of the Parliament House in New Delhi.
