A man said to be in his 30s was killed while 10 others were injured after a Porsche car hit the divider on the Dr Radhakrishnan Salai in Chennai. According to media reports the car, driven by a drunk student, rammed into several autorickshaws parked on the roadside. The incident took place in the early hours of Monday.

As the car rammed into autos, some people sleeping in those vehicles were injured. A couple of them suffered serious injuries and had to be admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Government Medical College Hospital, where one of them succumbed to injuries.

According to media reports, the car was being driven by one V Vikas, who is the son of Supreme Court lawyer Vijay Anand. His friend Charan Kumar was accompanying him. Cops were quoted as saying in media reports that both Vikas and Charan were drunk.

Vikas, a resident of T Nagar, and Kumar were apparently returning home after a party thrown by Tuti Patriot, the team that won the Tamil Nadu Premier League final on Sunday. Vikasn and Kumar themselves escaped unhurt as the airbags were activated after the car hit the divider at high speed.

The other people injured in the accident were sent to Government Royapetah Hospital. Traffic cops registered a case and detained both Vikas and Charan.
