A class X student was allegedly raped by her tuition teacher at his home, prompting her to reportedly attempt suicide by consuming acid, police said.
The 16-year-old girl is said to be in critical condition, while the accused Prem Prakash (25) has been arrested, police said.
The victim used to go to the accused's home for tuition every day, they said.

Wednesday, Prakash raped the girl when she came to his home and prevented her from leaving his place, they said.

The girl managed to escape in the evening and told her parents about the incident, following which they lodged a complaint with the police.
Upset over the incident, the victim consumed acid kept in her bathroom yesterday, they said.
Acting on the complaint, police have arrested the accused.
The girl is not in a condition to speak so her statement could not be recorded, they said.
The matter is being probed, they said.
