Clearance of pending amount for Rs 68 crore circuit house likely
At the ongoing winter session of the Legislative Assembly in Nagpur, it is likely that the pending amount for the Rs 68 crore five star-like housing facility for the chief minister, deputy chief minister, bureaucrats and other VIPs will be cleared.
The Environmental Research Institute of India recently conducted a feasibility survey for the green premises and declared that the new property will possess five star amenities, including two helipads on the structure’s terrace.
The Public Works and Department (PWD) commenced work of constructing a new circuit house by demolishing the old circuit house spread over a 3.6 acre plot of land in Cantonment. The estimated cost of the new circuit house was pegged at Rs 68 crore.
While the old circuit house has eight suites for all the ministers, high court judges and secretary-level officers, the VVIP guesthouse too has eight suites for all the cabinet ministers of state and union, and the governors of other states.
While the initial amount of Rs 17 crore was passed by the state in the month of July, the rest is likely to be sanctioned during the winter session. PWD officials said the reason behind constructing the new circuit house is the insufficient number of VIP guesthouses in the city.
“Considering the frequent VIP movement in the city, the three existing guesthouses are proving insufficient. Therefore we had given the proposal to build a new circuit house,” PWD Executive Engineer Atul Chavan said. The new circuit house would be a net zero premises where water will not be taken from outside and the energy used will be solar. Sewage water would be recycled and used for watering tress planted on the premises.
“The helipad design is approved by the Bureau of Indian Standards and the Director of Civil Aviation. The new circuit house will be the first government building to have a helipad facility,” Chavan said.
The new circuit house will have 34 suites, including two special ones for the chief minister and his deputy. The construction material used for building the new circuit house would be taken from natural sources.
