Coimbatore: In an exemplary punishment, a 32-year-old man was awarded double death sentence and two life imprisonments by a court on Tuesday for brutally murdering a woman and her two children, including a 11-month old baby, in June last year.
Mahila Court Judge M P Subramanian held Senthil guilty of the triple murder over enmity with his previous landlord and awarded two capital punishments - one each for the murder of the children - and life imprisonment for killing the woman.

He was sentenced to another life imprisonment for trespassing into the house. The judge also imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 each for the murders and failure to pay it would attract six months' rigorous imprisonment. Life sentences would run concurrently.
The prosecution case was that Senthil, hailing from Manamadurai, had stabbed to death Vatsaladevi, wife of his former house owner Maruthamanikkam, seven-year-old Makilan and
11-month-old Praneet in their house on June 1, 2014.
Maruthamanikkam was away when the murders took place. As Senthil used to often quarrel with them, the house owner had asked him to vacate the house.
