Colas adds fizz to D'Assisi's season with Ahmed Sailor title

St Francis D'Assisi (Borivli) clinched the boys' U-16 Ahmed Sailor knockout title of the Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA) inter-school football title beating Campion (Colaba) by a solitary goal at Cooperage yesterday.

The Borivli team won the title after three years thanks to a strike from midfielder Bruno Colas in the 45th minute. Bruno has delivered for the Borivli side at crucial moments throughout the tournament. He scored both goals in the team's semi-final victory against Bombay Scottish.


Head held high
"We were disappointed not to win the MSSA league this year, but I'm happy to have won this one for my school as this is my last year in school. I will pass out with my head held high as its been quite some time since our school won any silverware in the U-16 category," said Bruno.

St Francis D'Assisi's coach Thomas Barretto was relieved to have his hands on a trophy at last. "Finally we have won a title this year. The boys' hard work has paid off," he said.

Meanwhile, Jamnabai Narsee (ICSE), Juhu beat Bombay Scottish (Mahim) 4-3 via tie-breaker to win third place.

After a goalless encounter, Krish Kewlani, Aryan Kohal, Sahil Bhatia, Prajin Gandhi were on target for the Juhu outfit, while Bhavya Jain, Abir Mehta, Amay Choudhary scored for Bombay Scottish.
