An excellent and competitive eight-race card is framed for Sunday at the Pune racetrack. The feature event, the grade 3, Eve Champion Trophy, has five runners in the fray, one of them--Escala--is pitched in by Bangalore schooler Neil Darashah.

Whosoever wants to win will have to beat the Malesh Narredu-trained Colombiana who has had a decent mock race on this track about a fortnight ago. Jack Frost, who also participated in that mock drill but chose to lie low, is in the fray now. Trevor Patel will ride him.

However, Colombiana's main challenger will most likely be Germanicus, the Vishal Gaikwad ward who has had the benefit of a good run this season. Germanicus is entrusted to jockey A Sandesh.

I expect Colombiana to put in a winning performance over the ten-furlong trip.
