Kathak is one of the eight forms of Indian classical dances and the name has originated from the word katha, which means story

“The show, Katha Kathak Ki traces the evolution of Kathak over the years from ancient India, Mughal era to contemporary times,” says Vijayshree Chaudhary, artistic director of the dance school.

Chaudhary’s students aged between five to 40 years, will be a part of the show. Through a series of acts, they will showcase the intricacies of the dance form.
A Pandit Birju Maharaj disciple, Chaudhary’s proficiency in Kathak has taken her across the world. In the past, she has also been associated with the Miss India pageant, coaching winners to put their best foot forward in the talent round of international contests.

“I will be performing the Radha-Krishna act with one of my former student and noted choreographer, Sandeep Soparrkar. A number of actors like Geeta Basra, Raima Sen and Mugdha Godse have also trained under me,” says Chaudhary. For the last two years, she has also been the official choreographer of the I am She beauty pageant.

Katha Kathak Ki is not only an effort to promote the talent of her students but is also a tribute to the wonderful dance form. It is a culmination of her and her
students efforts.
