Get set for a laugh riot as Don Ward, Amar Agarwal and Paul Tough of The Comedy Store, in association with Gadi Hassin of Hyatt Regency Pune, will be bringing in six of the best international stand-up comedians to regale the audiences in Pune. When it comes to live stand-up comedy, the Comedy Store UK has been around for 31 years. It was established in 1979 by Don Ward and The Comedy Store in Mumbai will complete one year of laughs this year.

Laugh riots Imran Yusuf, Glen Wool and Hal Cruttenden will take the city of Pune by storm as they perform on June 15 and the week after that will see another trio of acclaimed international stand-ups such as Rob Deering, Roger Monkhouse and Andre Vincent. "India has woken up to a new art formu00a0-- the stand-up," observes Don Ward, as we spoke to him in London. "When I started I already had a market here in Mumbai thanks to the Bollywood influence but I always had my eyes on other cities as well."
He adds that Indians do have a playful sense of humour and are a "happy people". He's also very hopeful of finding new talent here. "Who knows, this country may have another Chris Rock or Robin Williams." With their first show in Pune, they plan to give this city a taste of what The Comedy Store is all about. "I have gone to Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai and now Pune. I know Pune is very close to Mumbai and it has a large student population which should be to our benefit." So, enjoy a fun night of laughs and reserve a table for dinner to end the night on a high note.
