Thane: A Constable has been arrested for allegedly molesting a young woman in full public view and stalking her, police said today.
Chandrakant Balkrishna Tupe, attached to Thane city police, has been charged under IPC sections related to outraging the modesty of a woman and criminal intimidation, police said in a release here.

According to a complaint lodged by the woman, the 32- year-old policeman followed her at a bridge where she was waiting to catch a bus to return home at about 7.30 last evening.
Though there were people at the bus stop, Tupe came near and grabbed the 21-year-old victim's hand and asked her not to raise an alarm or else he would harm her. He also showed his picture in police uniform to her, as per the complaint.
The woman gathered courage and raised an alarm, following which bystanders nabbed him and handed over to the nearest police station where he was put under arrest, the release said.
According to the complainant, the Constable had followed her for a couple of days earlier also.
