A chain snatcher was nabbed by an inspector from the Bhosari police station and two traffic police constables in his attempt to flee the spot where he had pinched a chain off a toddler on Sunday evening
The thief was later identified as Chakan resident Vittal Anna Gaikwad (18) and was remanded in police custody till September 20. u00a0Inspector Chandrakant Bhosale and traffic constables Ugale and Thite nabbed Gaikwad after a brief chase near Alandi Road Chowk. Pallavi Santosh Gundare (24) from Alandi lodged a complaint against Gaikwad at the Bhosari police station.u00a0

Bhosale said, “Pallavi and her relative Pournima were walking towards the vegetable market. Pallavi was carrying her son Pradyumna who was wearing a gold chain weighing six grams. Citing an opportunity, Gaikwad snatched this chain following which Pallavi cried for help. I was near the spot when I heard her cry for help and chased Gaikwad. Traffic constable Ugale and Thite, who were also present at a distance, started chasing the him following which Gaikwad was nabbed.”u00a0The gold chain was recovered from Gaikwad’s pocket. “He works as a labourer in Chakan and his presence in the area is highly suspicious. We suspect of him being involved several chain-snatching incidents in the area,” Bhosale said. u00a0
