It's another one of those high-profile murder cases in the Capital that continues to be a mystery, even after six months.u00a0 The Delhi High Court on Tuesday reserved its order on a plea for CBI inquiry into the murder of 20-year-old engineering student Shobhit Modi, who was killed near his south Delhi residence on May 5 this year. Suraj Modi, father of the deceased, had sought a CBI probe into the case saying the police were handling it in an 'inefficient' manner.

Searching for clues
Counsel for the petitioner argued that the victim's family members had supplied the mobile phone, laptop to the police for investigation but nothing has been found till date. "Police have failed to analyse the contents of the SMSes and the victim's interaction with his friend about his affair with the girl. There was no motive of robbery behind the murder as the victim's belongings were intact," the counsel submitted adding his client was threatened by the father and brother of Shobhit's girlfriend in his college a few months before the incident as they were against their relationship.

Quest for justice
Shobhit's father earlier told the court that the family of his son's lover might have been involved in the killing.
"The girl's parents were not happy with the love affair, so on many occasions they had made threatening calls to my son," Shobhit's father told justice Gupta.

Opposing the plea for transfer of the probe, the city police has told the court that it has already examined over 1,100 people in the case. "Transfer of the case is not going to enhance the case in any manner. We have examined more than 1,100 people including the family members of his girl friend. Each aspect in the case is being examined by the police but nothing has been found so far," the counsel said.
