The club confirmed on Friday that Ronaldo suffered a thigh strain in Real’s 3-0 win over Villarreal on Wednesday.
"He won’t play against Rayo. He’ll stay at home and we’ll see for the next game," Zidane said. "He wanted to play, but he knows that it isn’t possible. We’ve had to put the brakes on him and he knows his mind has to be on Manchester City. I don’t think he is shattered at the end of the season, I think he is in good shape and it is an anecdote that in one move this type of thing can happen."
