Sunday's card of eight races -- four of them featuring eight or less runners -- is quite a disappointment in view of the fact that the richest -- and the most glamorous -- race for juveniles, the Poonawalla Breeders' Multi-million, is programmed as the feature event of the day.
The grade 1 race offers more than Rs 1 crore to the winner, about Rs 35 lakh to the runner up, and another Rs 30 lakh will be distributed to horses finishing 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th.
There will also be attractive prizes for the crowd, including a Volkswagen Vento that will be given to anyone who correctly nominates the first four finishers of the race.
There are 17 runners in the fray -- four of them fillies -- and winner is expected to emerge from the quintet of Dancing Prances, Starry Eyes, Mariinsky, Albertino & Scenic Warrior. My choice is Dancing Prances, the Ace - Dancing Greens three-year-old gelding trained by Altaf Hussain and to be ridden by Dashrath Singh.
