A royal security alert was sparked yesterday when several official photographs of Prince William were recalled "for showing sensitive information".

The shots, illustrating a day in the life of the Prince working as a rescue helicopter pilot, had not been cleared by the Ministry of Defence before they were published on his official website. Several of the snaps picturing Wills hard at work at RAF Valley on Angelsey were hastily recalled as they showed MoD user names, passwords and computer screens.

A defence spokesman said, “A number of photographs of Flight Lieutenant Wales were taken whilst on duty working as a helicopter search and rescue pilot. Due to an administrative oversight, these photographs were not properly cleared at RAF Valley. The passwords and user names shown have now been reset as a precaution and we are satisfied the images do not contravene security regulations.”

The pictures show the fliers relaxing together during their downtime, from sharing a meal or resting in the crew-room.

Computer games — especially those that are military-themed such as Call of Duty — are said to be a favourite, but they can never be more than 60 seconds away from their aircraft.
