Her children and husband are to join her in India soon, according to sources.

Khobragade’s December 12 handcuffing and strip-search for alleged visa fraud and underpaying her nanny triggered outrage in India, leading to a standoff with the US.

She was indicted by a grand jury for visa fraud and making false statements about the employment of nanny Sangeeta Richard. She was told to leave the US after India refused to waive her diplomatic immunity to face trial.

After her arrival, Khobragade had said that she was missing her children.

She has joined the ministry of external affairs in the Development Partnership Administration (DPA) department.

With the cases against her still standing, Khobragade can not return to America.
