3 die as SUV falls into a rivulet on Kolhapur-Ratnagiri highway
In a freak accident, three people � who worked in a city-based software company, and were going on a picnic � lost their lives after the SUV they were travelling in fell into a rivulet at Talavade village on the Kolhapur-Ratnagiri highway on Saturday.
Seven others, who were in the same car, sustained serious injuries.
The deceased have been identified as Prateek Chakravarti (32), Mohanish Damdage (30), and Soyal Jain (26). “The group was on its way to Konkan, and around 3.30 pm their vehicle reached near Talavade village where the driver lost control of the vehicle after which it fell into the rivulet. Three people died on the spot,” said MA Koli, API of Shahapur police station.
He added that the injured were rushed to a nearby rural hospital, from where they were shifted to Chhatrapati Pramila Raje Hospital in Kolhapur.
Those injured have been identified as Hasan Sheikh-Mahtre, Deepika Dhakekar, Tarif Jodh, Mrunalkumar Sharma Mithun Mukherjee, Intakhan Jodh, and the driver of the SUV, Shreekant Raut.
