DJ Hardwell: Bollywood music and EDM would make a great combo
He may not have explored indie tunes at his gig last night, but DJ Hardwell says a collaboration would be welcome
He may have wowed his audience in Mumbai with EDM last night, but Dutch DJ Hardwell calls himself a lover of Bollywood beats. "It's really hard to incorporate it [Bollywood music] in the music that I make. Indian music is so different. There are various genres. But, I'd like to explore Bollywood music in the future. I would love to mix some of these numbers with EDM, and even release the songs. I think it will make for a great combination."
Having previously performed in India, Hardwell says he cherishes the dedication of his fans towards his work. "I came here two years ago and was fascinated to see so many people enjoy my music. Their love brings me back. They know every song, and respond to every beat with so much energy. There is no other country in the world like India and I consider it my second home."
During his last visit, Hardwell admits to being saddened by the plight of the homeless children in the country. A desire to "give back to society" prompted him to join hands with a local NGO to promote their welfare. During this visit, he even interacted with a few of the children who are part of the organisation.
"I played cricket with the kids from an NGO and the slums. It was an incredible experience," he says. A previous conversation with singer Shailendra Singh, he says, highlighted that education has always been a concern in the country. "When I have achieved so much, tasted success, I wanted to give back to society. I decided to collaborate with an NGO to raise money via a concert. I have always felt a connection with this country, so, this association was organic."
