Dominic Savio gets astro-turf

St Dominic Savio (Andheri) is now among the select schools in the city to get astro-turf installed in their premises.

The 7-a-side size multi-purpose turf, inaugurated last week, costs around Rs 30 lakh and will help children get a feel of the turf and encourage them to play hockey and football, according to Dayanand Shetty, the school’s sports coordinator.u00a0

“The basic aim of this turf is training, but we could even hold rink tournaments here. I’m glad that our school is the first in the suburbs to have astro-turf,” Shetty told MiD DAY.u00a0
