'I'm not ready to have sex with him yet'
Introducing Dr Love, who solves your relationship riddles in a confusing digital age
My boyfriend and I began dating a month ago and I'm beginning to sense that he wants to have sex with me at some point. I'm not sure if this is too soon though and I would rather wait for at least another two months before doing it because I need time to get used to the idea. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? What if he decides to break up with me because of this?
If he decides to break up with you simply because you won't sleep with him in the first month of being in a relationship, you're better off without him in your life. I'm assuming the two of you got together because you like being with each other, not simply because you both wanted someone to sleep with. If you're not comfortable with it now, you have every right to wait for another month or even another year if you feel like it. It's your body and entirely your decision. Don't let peer pressure or even your boyfriend's needs push you into doing something you are not comfortable with.
My girlfriend is incredibly boring in bed. She doesn't do anything beyond the missionary position, which is annoying because there's so much more we can do. If I suggest a few things to her, will I come across as pushy? I don't want her to hate me.
Sex is a personal thing and different people approach it differently. There is absolutely nothing wrong with you having this conversation with your girlfriend because physical intimacy is natural and ought to be explored. It adds enormous spice to a relationship, so I suggest you speak to her about it and find out why she's averse to trying something new. You're not being pushy at all, provided you aren't forcing her to try something she doesn't want to. I don't think she will hate you at all, if you're simply being honest about what you would like.
