'Focus on yourself, not your Facebook profile picture'

My Facebook profile photo is boring, according to my friends. They don’t like any of the new photographs I have tried using either, and say that this is why women don’t like chatting with me. Is there anything I can do to click a photograph that will be appealing and encourage people to chat with me? Should I try a professional photographer?Maybe I’m giving this too much importance, but my friends are very insistent about this. What can I do?
I don’t know about professional photographers, but I think you should start by choosing your friends a little more carefully. If people don’t want to chat with you on the basis of what your photograph is like, ask yourself if you really need to have conversations with people like that in the first place. And, for the record, you are giving this way more importance than it deserves. Isn’t there anything more important you ought to focus on?
A colleague from work has been e-mailing me every week asking me out to dinner. I have absolutely no interest in him, but he is very insistent and I may agree just to get him to stop. I don’t like this though, because it feels as if I am being forced to do something I am not comfortable with. How do I refuse him?
I suppose the only thing you can do is e-mail politely and say that you simply aren’t interested. Stop e-mailing after that first refusal and he will, hopefully, get it through his thick skull that you really aren’t going to ever go out with him. If this upsets him, that’s his problem, not yours. Some men believe women say no when they really want to say yes, which happens when you read the wrong kind of magazines and accept them as the last word on any subject. It’s also why so many men from India have a problem with strong women. As always, I blame our regressive film and advertising industries for this.
