'Is it worth risking your friendship for casual sex?'

I have been attracted to a close friend of mine for a while now. We are sure we won't get into a relationship, but we have been considering having sex anyway, just because we think it would be cool. Is this a good idea? Are we complicating things? I don't want us to stop being friends if this becomes awkward, but we are seriously tempted to give it a shot just once.
It's convenient, of course, but not exactly the best idea you guys can come up with. Physical intimacy changes things between people and, when there isn't any possibility of a relationship, it can complicate things between you two. If you can recognise that what you both feel is lust, not love, that may help a little. If one of you inadvertently starts to have emotional feelings about the other though, this could easily damage your friendship. Before going down this road, have a conversation about it, and be as open as possible about what you both expect. Think about how important this friendship is to you both before doing anything to jeopardise it.

Should I continue to be in a relationship with someone who is abusive, sometimes violent and almost always nasty to my friends and me? We have been together for a year now, and it has been a nightmare. The only reason I haven't ended it is because I don't want to be single. What should I do?
Your reason for continuing to be in this relationship makes no sense whatsoever. No one should have to deal with a partner who is abusive or violent. In fact, not only should you end this at once, you should speak up about it too. Domestic violence is real and has been pushed under the carpet for way too long. Your partner shouldn't be allowed to get away with it. As for being single, it's a far more attractive alternative compared to being with someone who has no respect for you.
