While the revised draft of the National Sports Development Bill submitted to the Sports Minister Jitendra Singh yesterday has been welcomed in some quarters, it came under criticism from eminent lawyer Rahul Mehra, who had resigned as a member of the Working Group Committee in May.
“This Draft Sports Bill has been diluted from the previous draft prepared during (Sports Minister) Ajay Maken’s tenure and has defeated the entire reform process,” Mehra wrote in an e-mail.
“I had objected to the said Working Group Committee as majority of the members, barring one or two, were more than agreeable to keep the BCCI completely out of the ambit of the Sports Bill.”u00a0
