“We were manning the traffic junction at Turf Club around 5 pm, when a PMPML bus (MH 12 DT 8857) going towards Hadapsar jumped a red signal,” API Shashikant Kale of the Wanwadi traffic division said.
He said Traffic Constable Lalasaheb Patil chased the bus and intercepted it near Bhairobanala police chowkie.
“We then asked the driver to produce his license. While checking the licence, we realised the driver smelt of alcohol. We immediately took him to the traffic outpost, where we conducted a breathalyser test on him, which turned out positive,” Kale said.
After the driver was arrested, all the passengers were asked to vacate the bus and were given an alternate bus.
“Some passengers complained that Koli had been driving rashly and was jumping signals,” he said.
Kale added officials of the police station, who are investigating the case, would be sending a report to the depot officials after which action would be initiated against Koli.u00a0
