The deceased has been identified as Sagar Patole, a resident of Ganesh Nagar, and the murder suspects have been identified as Avinash Chavan and Satish Labade. Senior Police Inspector Kalyan Vidhate of the Kothrud police station said, “On June 25, a call was received at the police station regarding an unidentified body lying in the open space at Ganesh Nagar. When we reached the spot, we found a decomposed body under some trees covered with a banner.”

Vidhate added that it was initially suspected to be a case of suicide, but the post mortem report revealed that the man died from strangulation. “During the investigation, we zeroed in on Chavan and Labade and interrogated them. They confessed to having committed the crime to extract revenge, as Patole had teased Chavan’s sister on one occasion earlier.
