Kimberly Lobo scored a field goal to give the Malad team the lead in the 20th minute. The Bandra side however took control of the game in the second half. In the 51st minute, Duruelo’s Diksha Bhosale scored a brilliant field goal from an acute angle to make it 1-1. In the shoot-out, only Duruelo’s Pranali Patil managed to score while all other strokes were missed — four by Duruelo and five by Carmel of St Joseph.

Duruelo ’keeper Sushmita who maintained a clean slate in the shoot-out was the star for her team. She gave credit to her coach, former International Happy Mann for the win. “Happy madam has worked hard on my skills. Even before the shoot-out, I was nervous.

But she told me not to take any pressure and just concentrate on the ball. I followed her advice and we won,” said the Class VIII student. Meanwhile, in the third place tie, St Lawrence (Borivli) beat St Joseph’s Convent (Bandra) 3-1.
