Ten days after she was raped in course of an auto ride home, the victim -- an 18-year-old Dutch girl -- identified both the accused from an identification parade conducted by the Vanrai police at the collector's office in Borivli yesterday. Cops had arrested the main accused, rickshaw driver Anil Yadav (28) on Monday, but wanted the victim to conclusively identify him as one of her assailants.

In plain sight: The identification parade was held at the collector's
office last afternoon, in course of which the victim (below) identified the
main accused Anil Yadav (left) and his accomplice Rajpati Baburam
Nishat.

Emma (name changed) also identified the other accused in the case -- 22-year-old Rajpati Baburam Nishat -- in course of the parade.

He had been nabbed by the Vanrai cops on December 29, after they tracked the victim's mobile phone, which he had stolen. Nishat had made phone calls to his mother and wife back in his village using the stolen phone.
According to the Vanrai cops, Nishat had provided them with Yadav's address. Upon reaching his Dahisar residence, however, they found him missing.

The police then began observing the movements of his family members, soon learning that he had boarded a train from Kurla to flee to Uttar Pradesh.

A team of cops was assembled and dispatched to UP on Yadav's trail. He was nabbed on Monday, and brought back to the city the next day.

"We have arrested the auto driver, and he has confessed to the crime. We have presented him before the court, which has remanded him in judicial custody, essential before an identification parade. We speeded things up because the girl wanted to leave the country as early as possible," said PI Dhanaji Nalawade from Vanrai police station.

The victim was called to the collector's office on yesterday, and asked to identify the two accused.
"The girl has identified both the accused in the case. It was important that the girl stayed in the city as this procedure was crucial for the case," said Rajendra Dabade, deputy commissioner of police (zone XII).
Emma's friends revealed that she planned to leave the city last night.

The case
The incident took place at around 1 am on December 26, when the girl took an auto ride to reach her Mulund home. Yadav, the rickshaw driver, halted his vehicle and picked up Nishat, his accomplice, and then took a turn to enter the forested area near Aarey milk colony. Nishat then stepped into the backseat and gagged her, forcing her jeans off. While one of the two strangled her, the other raped her. She managed to flee and ran towards a building that she spotted in the distance, where she was helped by locals
