The Indian pace battery is at its peak and the competition between Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah and Umesh Yadav quite intense. Once injured Bhuvneshwar Kumar makes a comeback, the fight will get only stiffer.

While Team India are spoilt for choices as far as pacers are concerned, out-of-favour Varun Aaron, 30, is optimistic of making a comeback to the national team.

"I don't think is difficult [to make a comeback]. It's about how much you love the game. Obviously, playing for India is the main motivation. I want to get back in the Indian team. The way my game has developed, I am not too far away," Aaron told mid-day after a gym session at the DY Patil Sports Academy, Nerul in Navi Mumbai on Tuesday.

Aaron, who has claimed 18 and 11 Test and ODI wickets respectively, is not averse to competition. "There will always be competition for any slot, but if you feel there is too much competition or no competition, then you may get complacent or lack belief. So, I am focusing on myself.

"I have enough quality and ability and don't have to worry about getting a place in the Indian team if I am bowling at my best," said Aaron, who will play his maiden game in the DY Patil T20 Cup for the hosts' 'B' team against Income Tax on Thursday.

Aaron, who was known as the quickest Indian bowler before the likes of Shami and Bumrah burst on the scene, felt variations are important. "All the deliveries are really important and to execute each of them is crucial. You can't just bowl quick and not have a slower one or a yorker."

Meanwhile on Tuesday, pacers Avesh Khan (3-22), Atit Sheth (2-29) and Abhishek Sharma's 33-ball 71 helped Indian Oil beat DY Patil 'A' team by seven wickets.

In other matches, Reliance 1 triumphed over Indian Navy by 58 runs, while Income Tax registered a two-wicket win over BPCL.
