Eastern Freeway falling apart before its thrown open to public

A big chunk of the 13.5 km flyover connecting Chembur and south Mumbai has collapsed at Yellow gate

The Eastern Freeway, which is yet to be thrown open to the public, seems already strained by all the expectations pegged on it.

A couple of hours after the Freeway was inaugurated by Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan around 3.30 pm yesterday, MiD DAY’s photographer Bipin Kokate noticed that a portion of the bridge had collapsed near Yellow Gate. A crane was positioned under the spot, ready to get cracking at the repair work.
