For Bengalis, food is not a mere need but an expression of celebrating a festival. Kitchens of Bengali restaurants are whipping up specialties to welcome Maa Durga and win your hearts over with sumptuous spreads to be served on Asthami, Nabami and Dashami. We scouted around town to pin down the places where you can get your taste buds tickling this Durga Puja. Here's a round up of eateries going all out to cater to this festive spirit.

If you are getting homesick after your morning fast breaks on Asthami, then fret not. Just head to Esplanade to sample chef Shubhankar's delicacies like Luchi, Bhetkir Paturi, Chingrir Malaikari, Doi Murgi, Kasha Mangsho, Mourala Maach Bhaja, Amshottor Chutney, Papad, Tota puli (a kind of sweet), Ice cream Sandesh, Baked Boondi and Mishti Doi, all cooked just the way Bengalis would love it. The same menu will also be served on Nabami and Dashami as lunch and dinner buffet.

This fine dining Bengali restaurant has several delicious plans up its sleeves for all the three days of festivities. You can either go for their lunch buffet that is offering a whopping 27 dishes. Aloor Dom, Dhokar Kalia, Chingri Malai Curry, Pabda Shorshe, Kaju Kishmisher Pulao and Lichir Payesh among others. A hilsa festival is also onu00a0 where you can tuck into Aam Tel Ilish, Tetul Ilish, Ilish Bhapa and others. Pet Pujo (that just means worshipping your tummy and filling it up with good food), is the a-la-carte option where you can choose between Kacchalonkar Torkari, Kosha Mangsho, Kakda Chingri and Railway Mutton Curry among other signature Bengali dishes.

Now is the chance to enjoy different Bengali delicacies on the three days of Asthami, Nabami and Dashami. On Asthami you can dig into Chicken Cutlet, Beguni, Radha Ballavi, Alurdum, Phul Kopir Rasa, Doi Chicken, Pabdar Jhaal, Kaju Kishmis Pulao, Anarosher Chutnety, Papad, Raj Bhog and Chaanar Jilipi. Nabami will come with Chingrir chop, Vegetable Cutlet, Peas Kachodi, Chhaanar Dalna, Alu Posto, Gopalbhog and more. The last day of Durga Puja offers Hing Kachodi, Alu Foolkopir Dalna, Chingrir Malaikari, Chicken Kasa, Kalo Jaam and more.
