England no longer a major football power: Capello

Ahead of Saturday's Wembley showpiece against Spain, England manager Fabio Capello has said that the Three Lions are no longer a major football power as there are not enough English players in the Premier League.

Capello further said that he has done a good job for his six million pound-a-year salary considering what he has had to work with.

"I think we've done a pretty good job. English football has only 33 percent English players. No more. This makes everything difficult," the Sun quoted Capello, as saying.

He also says that there is no point in his players trying to match Spain's successful one-touch football.

"Everyone talks about the Spanish style, the Barca style. It's a style that only those players can have. It's touch, touch, touch... but with the highest quality," Capello said.

"You can't think of playing one touch if you don't have the quality to play that way. We have our own good players, but not for trying to have the playing style which Spain have, which Barca have, with 65 percent possession of the ball," he added.
