“Leopards are very shy animals, the lion seems almost friendly in a lazy way, but it is the tiger’s body language that talks about the hidden strength it has,” says the author of the coffee table book, Tiger Kingdom.
Dubey adds, “The tiger dominates the forest. It is top of the food chain and controls the ecology of the forest too. I have seen Machli, I think in 2001. I recall she spotted a small sambar, she made up her mind to go after it and suddenly the sambar took flight. Machli chased it.
“I knew there was something different. Machli had a magnetic personality and electrifying allure,” finishes Dubey, currently on the advisory committee on the conservation of the Asiatic Lion.
