There are two things that Manjari Fadnis never compromises on when she's travelling. One is shopping, and the other is food. And her latest trip to Sri Lanka was all that and more. The actor, who's back in town after attending the Vesak fest that celebrated the birth of Buddha, shares her meet with the queen of Thailand, Mom Luang, and her travel memories:
Walk of life
This was a very short trip so I only ended up visiting Colombo. I found the place to be really clean and the people very warm and affectionate. The architecture is very colonial and the city's infrastructure is great. The beaches there are to die for - they're white with clean blue water. The roads are so clean that you don't even mind walking bare feet. We actually did that. We were once stuck in a traffic jam so we decided to walk it to the hotel.
Shop stop
The two things I don't miss out on when I travel to a new place are the cuisine and the shopping. I did a lot of both. I visited malls like Romafour that had some really nice clothing for men as well as women. I picked up a few accessories too. And like always, I bought lots of fridge magnets. I also got authentic lion wooden masks, which are considered to bring good luck.
The food there was simply yummy. I had this rice prawn dish that tasted absolutely delicious. We also ate
authentic Sri Lankan food in a shack on the Bentota beach. The different spices used in the cuisine made the food finger licking good.
