Nearly three weeks after a massive fire engulfed AMRI Hospital in Kolkata, a fire broke out in the complex of Sion Hospital yesterday. However, no casualty was reportedu00a0-- but, panic-stricken resident doctors and patients immediately rushed out of the Physiotherapy Out Patient Department (OPD) building that was within the realm of the rapidly spreading fire.

Dangerous: A fire broke out in an unused warehouse within the Sion
hospital complex, close to the staff quarters

Two fire tenders from Dharavi fire station were rushed to the spot within ten minutes and the fire was brought under control. Residents say this is the third fire at the same spot in less than a year. According to eyewitness, the fire broke out around 11.30 am in an unused warehouse within the hospital complex, close to the staff quarters. Within minutes the fire was seen spreading to the adjoining doctor's residential quarters.

One of the residents, also an employee of the hospital, said, "This is not the first time that a fire has occurred here. We have always opposed this warehouse, as it was also a dumping ground for used saline bottles and needles, in the past." Fire brigade officials were unsure about the cause of the fire.u00a0
