Fernando Alonso fastest in testing
Former world champion Spaniard Fernando Alonso went fastest in yesterday morning's session at Barcelona's Catalunya circuit on the third day of testing before the start of the new Formula One season
The Spaniard, second last year to Sebastien Vettel, clocked 1 minute 23.046 seconds in his Ferrari to place ahead of Venezuelan Pastor Maldonado, who timed 1min 22.675secs in his Williams.
Australia’s Mark Webber was third fastest for Red Bull in 1min 23.406secs with Frenchman Romain Grosjean fourth for Lotus in 1min 24.376secs.
The new season opens in Melbourne, Australia on March 17.
Force India may unveil 2nd driver next week
Force India could name a partner for driver Paul di Resta next week, the team’s deputy team principal, Bob Fernley said. At testing here, Adrian Sutil and current reserve Jules Bianchi were given opportunities.
