Ashfaque Shaikh, wanted in connection with the gang rape of a 19-year-old girl inside Shakti Mills, caught by cops while fleeing from Girgaum Chowpatty
The unit-2 officers of Mumbai police crime branch have arrested the last of the five accused in the gang rape of a teenager inside Shakti Mills. The man, identified as Ashfaque Dawood Shaikh (28), was arrested from Girgaum Chowpatty on Saturday. Police said Ashfaque may be involved in another rape case too. “We will produce him in holiday court on Sunday,” said a crimebranch officer.
The incident of this particular incident where a teenaged call centre employee had been raped, had come to light a few days after five men involved in the gang-rape of a 22-year-old photojournalist were arrested. The 19-year-old former call centre employee had come forward and complained that she was had been raped by at least three of the men inside the mill compound. NM Joshi Marg police had immediately registered an FIR.

In her complaint the girl said she was sexually assaulted and raped by the five men on July 31. The accused had tied up her male friend who was with her, before assaulting her. With this arrest, the cops have now nabbed all the accused in the case.
