Director Zubair Khan made headlines a few months back when he was shooting for his film in Nagpada and Dongri. He was allowed access where no filmmaker could shoot. Buzz was that it was due to his alleged closeness to Dawood Ibrahim.

He is the son-in-law of Dawood’s sister Haseena Parkar although he is very uncomfortable with the relationship and doesn’t reap the benefits of the name. Now he is all set to make a film on the life of encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar who was killed in the 26/11 terrorist attacks.

Khan says, “My research is done and I am talking to a few actors. I will start the film after my film Lakeer Ke Fakeer releases next month. It is my tribute to a daredevil officer who died on duty and was a loyal cop.

I don’t remember any single person who did not have affection for him. My film will not be like a Rowdy Rathore or a Singham but will treat the cop in a realistic manner and will be authentic, as I have spoken to people who have been close to him.”

He adds, “The first half of the film will be about his life as a cop and his various encounters. He was the first person in Maharashtra who got a licensed AK 47 gun. The second half of the film will be in a timeline with minute-to-minute real info on the 26/11 attacks and how he was killed fulfilling his duty.”

When asked if his family members have helped him in the research, he says, “No, this is my brainchild. I am taking information from a lot of people in the police force who knew him. I know that along with me everyone shed a tear when we learnt about his demise.”u00a0
