Films on his mind
It was some years back that Meiyang Chang acted in Badmaash Company. In a candid chat with CS, he talks about cinema's evolving face and how he sees himself fitting in it:
My biggest headache is that most of the scripts I get take my ethnicity in consideration. I don’t mind doing them; at some point you have to reconcile that you look a particular way and make the most of what’s being offered. But even within that, our industry is big enough to offer those dynamics.
I would love to play a bad guy. I’m very fond of the kind of stuff Anurag Kashyap, Dibakar Bannerjee and Abhishek Kapoor do. Also, slightly more glossy with a message kind of cinema that a Rajkumar Hirani or a Zoya Akhtar does, also appeal to me. I would love to expand what I’m doing. I’m very realistic, so probably getting the lead role is out of the question. I’m open to doing interesting second leads or negative characters.
