A fire broke out at around 2 pm on Friday at a lounge at Mumbai domestic airport's Terminal 1-B. The fire was confined to the ground floor conference hall, where it reportedly started, in an area encompassing about 5,000 sq. ft. No injuries or casualties were reported, and airport services remained unhindered. Eight fire engines, six jumbo tanks, one turntable ladder and one breathing apparatus were present at the spot to douse the fire.

The fire brigade rushed to the VIP Gate no.9, and the road leading to that section remained congested for half-an-hour as it was cordoned off while firefighters brought the fire under control. Vehicles with passengers waiting to board their planes were stuck due to this traffic jam.
