Although Premier League clubs are widely touted to be frontrunners to sign the German international, there is also a possibility that Khedira will opt for the Serie A club.

According to a report in La Nazione, there could be a twist for the two English clubs as the 27-year-old midfielder’s partner Lena Gercke favours a move to Italian city Florence over London. Gercke, winner of Germany’s Next Top Model competition, feels moving to Florence will be more beneficial for her career.

Time together
Khedira has been in a relation with Gercke, who is also a television host, for three years. She reportedly spends most of her time with the Real Madrid star in the Spanish capital.

Khedira played a part in Germany’s spectacular 2014 World Cup triumph but was absent for the final after succumbing to injury while warming up at the Maracana. However, despite the intense transfer speculation, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti tried to downplay talk before the Super Cup final last week.

“He’s not leaving, he’s a Real Madrid player. He has a contract until June 30, 2015 and that’s all there is to say,” he was quoted as saying in the media.
