The future of Di Resta, along with Force India team-mate Adrian Sutil, is up in the air as the season reaches its denouement.u00a0Speculation is rife co-owner and team principal Vijay Mallya is to look elsewhere, with strong suggestions Nico Hulkenberg has already been re-signed.

Hulkenberg quit the Silverstone-based team at the end of last year to join Sauber, and while Lotus are eager to hand the German a deal, the rumour is Mallya has beaten them to it.

It is likely to be another month yet and the team's Christmas party before Mallya announces his line-up, as has been his way over the last few years. Di Resta told Press Association Sport: "They know what I'm capable of here, they know what I can deliver. I feel like I'm an asset to the team.

"But I can't make the decision for them, and I have to respect their decision.u00a0"I've said all along I'd love to be part of it. I've expressed that to the senior management, bosses and the shareholders.

"Obviously, things are getting tighter in the midfield to get seats, so I have to be content with what I've done, and I believe over the last four races I've done what's been asked of me.”u00a0
