On Friday, few hours after resigning from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), former leader Alka Lamba said that she will be rejoining the Congress party. The former AAP leader said that she will be joining the Congress again in the presence of interim President Sonia Gandhi at her residence at 10, Janpath in New Delhi.

While addressing to the media persons, Lamba said, "I will be going to the residence of Sonia Gandhi at 6 p.m. and will take the primary membership of the Congress in her leadership." Lamba, who is a former Congress leader quit the Congress party to join the AAP. In the 2015 assembly election, she won from the Chandni Chowk seat.

Lamba's announcement of her rejoining the Congress came hours after she quit the Aam Aadmi Party. The former AAP leader had met Congress Interim President Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday. Lamba, who is an MLA from Chandni Chowk took to Twitter and said that she is resigning from the membership of the Aam Aadmi Party.

Lamba, who has not been on the same page as the AAP leaders and the party on various issues for the past several months had informed in August that she will quit the party.
