Four incidents of chain snatching were reported from different parts of the city on the first day of 2014. Gold ornaments worth Rs 2 lakh were stolen by the accused in these instances

Four incidents of chain snatching were reported from different parts of the city on the first day of 2014. Gold ornaments worth Rs 2 lakh were stolen by the accused in these instances.


The first incident was reported around noon, from sector 25 of Pradhikaran in Nigdi, after a bike-borne duo snatched a gold chain from Vandana Umbrajkar (58), while she was getting inside her car parked in front of her house.


Around 1 pm, in two separate incidents reported from Wadgaon Dhayari area, two unidentified accused swiped gold chains of Karuna Chavan (50), a resident of Sangli, and Aarti Deshpande (50), of Dhayari, while they were walking on the main road.


The fourth incident was reported around 6 pm near Niranjan hospital in Sadashiv Peth, when miscreants snatched the gold chain of Surekha Bagade, a resident of Sadashiv Peth. Separate complaints have been registered against the accused at Khadak, Dattawadi and Nigdi police stations.
