Four persons were arrested in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir for allegedly trying to smuggle bovine animals into the Kashmir valley

Jammu: Four persons were arrested in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir for allegedly trying to smuggle bovine animals into the Kashmir valley.


Acting on specific information, police set up a check point at Chemparhi in Udhampur district and signaled a truck to stop last evening.


However, the truck driver tried to escape but the cops chased and intercepted the vehicle at some distance. During the checking of the vehicle four bovine animals were rescued and the accused arrested, they said.


The accused have been identified as Mohammad Aslam, Abdul Gani, Zakir Hussain and Anwar, they said adding a case under relevant sections has been registered at Police Station Chenani and further investigation started.
